PAST GRANTS AWARDED
We have awarded over $232,000 in grants to teachers in Scarborough Public Schools. Here's some of the projects we have funded through the years!
2023
In 2023, the Scarborough Education Foundation awarded eight grants, helping teachers to enhance the Scarborough curriculum. A couple of the SEF funded projects are:
Building Thinking Classrooms - This is a program to be implemented in the middle school math classes to help students develop critical thinking, problem solving, and collaborative skills.
Bringing Maine Authors to Scarborough Schools - This project will introduce local author, Elisa Boxer, as a non=fiction writer to second graders. This author will explain her process of researching and writing, One Turtle’s Last Straw. The students will use these concepts in the library, in their reading, and their own writing.
Congratulations to Brianna Linscott who was awarded a grant in our 2022 Spring grant cycle. Her project “Learning to shop and cook through play” aims to teach students in grades 3-5 functional life skills through the purchase of items related to grocery shopping and food preparation.
